5 Questions to Ask Before You Rent a Construction Dumpster

Are you interested in renting a roll off dumpster for a construction project or a waste disposal project? There are a few good questions you can ask us when you call. We’ll help you get the answers you need so you can have the best possible experience with your dumpster. Here are a few answers to get you started.

What Sizes of Construction Roll Off Dumpster are Available?

We offer three sizes of dumpsters right now:

  • 15-yard.
  • 30-yard.
  • 50-yard.

The dumpster that is right for you will fit in the space you have and hold plenty of debris to make your project happen.

What Size of Roll Off Dumpster Do I Need?

Here are our general recommendations.

  • 15-foot. This is a great dumpster for most home cleanout projects, small roofing projects, and small-room demo and remodeling projects. These dumpsters fit in most residential driveways so they don’t require extra authorization from the city.
  • 30-foot. We recommend these for most home renovation projects and larger roofing projects. You will need permission to park this dumpster in the street.
  • 50-foot. These are great for highway construction projects and large construction sites. They are bear-proof, too.

What is the Rental Period for a Construction Roll Off Dumpster?

We offer a variety of rental periods based on your needs. You can choose to rent your dumpster by the day, by the week, or even by the month. We’ll work with you to make sure you get your dumpster when you need it and keep it until your task is complete.

How Much Does a Roll Off Dumpster Cost?

The cost of your dumpster will depend on the size of construction roll off dumpster you choose and the length of time you’ll need it for, as well as the number of dumpsters you need for your project. If you need us to empty it and return it, that will factor into the cost, too.

Is There Anything Else I Need to Know About a Roll Off Dumpster Rental?

There are a few other things you should know about renting a dumpster from us.

  • All of our dumpsters have weight limits. If you will go beyond the limit, you’ll need to rent a larger dumpster or come up with another plan.
  • Don’t use our dumpsters to dispose of hazardous waste like asbestos, pesticides, and more. We can give you a comprehensive list.
  • You will need a permit anytime you want to park a dumpster on a public street. These usually cost at least $40 per week and you will need to show proof of having a permit when we deliver the dumpster.

Choose the Right-Sized Roll-Off

Are you trying to figure out what size roll-off dumpster you should rent for your next cleanup or project? You can always call us at Waste & Water Logistics to talk to an expert who can help you, or you can use this handy guide. If you’re a first-time dumpster renter, this can be particularly useful.

We offer three sizes of dumpsters. We chose these three because we found that they were the most popular since they are perfect for most projects. Dumpsters are sized by the square yard, and that number indicates how much debris they can hold (not how long they are, or anything else…). A square yard is approximately the size of a traditional range with the oven below. Thus, a 15-yard dumpster could hold 15 ranges, etc. This can help you visualize exactly how big each dumpster is, since different sizes work best for different projects.

15-Yard Dumpster

These dumpsters fit in many driveways, so they can be perfect if you are having the dumpster delivered to a home. They are great for:

  • Basement or garage cleanouts
  • A small-to-medium deck removal
  • A small kitchen or a bathroom remodel
  • 2250 sq. feet of single-layer shingles
  • Flooring or carpet removal
  • Bedroom remodels
  • Landscaping work
  • Dirt and/or concrete removal

30-Yard Dumpster

These dumpsters are significantly larger. While still appropriate for many home projects, they usually require street parking, which may mean getting prior approval from your HOA. They are good for:

  • Major home remodeling projects, like adding on a room
  • New home construction
  • Garage demolition
  • Window and siding replacement over an entire small-to-medium house
  • Pool removal
  • Whole-home cleanouts
  • Small home demolition

50-Yard Dumpster

These are the largest of the large roll-off dumpsters and should only be rented when the 30-yard version is just too small. Ours are bear-proof since the animals are prevalent in Utah, and they also offer walk-in access. They are most often used for:

  • Extensive construction
  • Highway demolition and cleanup
  • Community cleanup events
  • Whole-home demolition
  • Commercial roof tear-off

Getting the Right Size Matters

Ordering a dumpster that’s too small can be a headache and a waste of your money, too. If you have to get a second dumpster delivered or you have to have your dumpster emptied, then returned to you, you’ll spend quite a bit more than you would have if you had simply rented a larger dumpster in the first place.

If you’ve read through this guide and you still aren’t sure what to rent, call and talk to one of our dumpster experts. We’ll talk to you about the details of your project and help you choose the dumpster size that will be perfect for you.

If you need dumpsters for a large construction site or an industrial site, we provide those services, too. Let us know what you need and we’ll be there, ready to help you get your work done.
